Spell check and favorites migration released!
Service release 1.1.2 (Build 1.1.309.21)
Spell check is now available! The service team heard everyone's "suggestions" for spell check and has turned it around relatively quick. Also another great feature that was added is the ability to move your favorites over from your WebTV account to MSN TV 2 automatically. If you migrated over with a WebTV.net account, you should be getting an email in the future to help you do this (it's very simple from what I've heard). Anyone who registers a new box now will have favorites migrate automatically along with their emails, address book, and messenger contact list.
I haven't been using my webtv daily as I used to because of not having spell check,addresses etc.. I also have not sent in rebate yet for my MSN2. Am I too late to get all of these features along with my rebate?
Posted by: Laurie Olivier at February 24, 2005 06:36 AMThe new features are already there (just power on the box and it'll be there!). As for the rebate, you'll have to check the terms and conditions on your particular rebate form to see if the offer has expired or not.

I ordered a new MSNTV2
after my old web tv unit
blew out. I was in the
hospital. I called and
said my payment may be
late. It wasn't. They
lost my credit card number
and put my account on
temporary suspension.
I wasn't told about this.
Now they tried to collect
two payments for January.
In Feb. we made a payment
but they took it out the
day before and we told them not to. Now I have to
pay a $70.00 bank fee.
Plus loose two payments in
January. I was given only
one months credit. This MSNTV 2 quit working the
new one. The key board
messed up so had to take
it back. Don't buy anything from Circut City
unlesss you get a warranty. I don't know
how to migrate. I can not
get into my old web tv
accounts as they said I
could. How do I complain
about the way I have been
treated? I have been on
the phone with them for
several hours and get
no where. I also don't
understand about the
spell check thing.
Most of their operators were nice
and very helpful excepet for this
one geek.

It sounds like you have quite a list of issues to work out. Let's see if I can help:
1. Account and Billing Issues:
To handle account and billing issues, you'll need to contact MSN TV customer care. Unfortunately, I don't have any visibility or authority into this area.
2. To migrate your old webtv accounts, just create a new extra user by doing the following:
1. Power on and Sign In
2. Click "Account" near the top of the screen after the home page loads
3. Click "Manage extra users"
4. Click "Add a user"
5. Choose "Use an exisiting webtv.net email address for this user"
Just follow the rest of the steps and you'll migrate your webtv.net account over to MSN TV 2.
3. There is a known keyboard issue, here is the relevant info that should help you get a new keyboard.
4. Spell check is a feature of email. Just go to email, write an email, and you'll be able to check the spelling in your email before you send it.
5. Circuit City...sorry, can't help you there...I only buy from Amazon.com and Fry's Electronics :)

Posted by: fredscocozza at February 25, 2005 04:29 PMI'm glad they finally gave us spell check. It was available before so I didn't see any reason why it wasn't available on TV2. After all, its supposed to be "the latest & most up to date".
I can't seem to get an email through to MSN Support. I've tried a number of times in the past 2 months, with no success, and I tried again this evening by going to the MSN home page and then to "support" but there is NO PLACE TO SEND AN EMAIL (like this). Also, there is no way to contact MSN support through the Help menu (as there was with the old MSN TV).
Can you help me?
