MSN TV 2 1.1.3 Client and Service

MSN TV 2 has just released the latest updates to its client and service. These include some major functionality users have been asking for:

1. Cut, Copy, and Paste! No mouse required!
2. Favorites are alphabetized
3. Upload photos to Ebay adn Epson sites
4. Stability bug fixes

The update is our first patch release and it very small (upgrading takes about a minute even on dialup!)

Comments

It came as an unexpected additional convenience. Good work, MSNTV2 Team.
Thanks,
-Gene

Hi Tommy and any other interested parties:

I am using my MSNTV 2 as a stand-alone, dedicated device, w/o any other peripherals, save for a 27" flat screen TV/Monitor for viewing.

At this time, I am interested in upgrading the modem speed from the standard 56K to a high speed cable internet access modem of 3 Megs. through my cable provider, Charter Comunications.

It is my understanding that all I need is the broadband modem, and a CAT5 adapter cable.

Has anyone else tried this most basic type of broadband hook-up either through their phone co. (mine is SBC) or cable provider?

If so, any of your feedback, advice, or general info. regarding this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Gene

The broadband for MSN TV 2 works with an established network so you would need a router and a modem.

It seems like a few users are experiencing crashes related to favorites. The issue is that some favorites may have names that may not be compatible with MSN TV 2 (this is likely if they were migrated from WebTV). If you are able to, check the favorites for non-alphabetic or numeric characters. Those are most likely the offending ones. Try to rename them if possible. The only other suggestion I have is to clear the box's favorites completely.

We're investigating to see if my hunch is actually true, but things seem to point that way.

Actually, you only need modem with cable BB if you are stand alone.

Fear and Loathing in the MSNTV2 Box.

Has you can tell by the title of this little thing.
The the latest update has not gone well for me. At first it as okay for a little while.
But now I've losted my favorite files two times everytime I try re-edit them around or save something.
My box crashes and goes down hard. And they seems to work. Not changing my access numbers or ALT+ Power works.
I Just wish there was away to get a retrograde like with the old webtv.

Yours Crying in the corner of the Net,

Andy K.

Well, the anxiously awaited update (which took 4 hrs) somehow killed my box! I was on the phone w/MSNTV2 support for several minutes after re-setting etc,was told that the box has hardware problems and to call RCA for a new one! I am pretty disgusted, I can only hope that because my box was one of the early ones ( I purchased it in October)it had bugs that the new ones don't.Do I want another one? Maybe...When it works, it's great.

MY NEW MSNTV2 CRASHED AND SENT IT TO TEXAS BECAUSE BEST BUY ONLY WARRANTS THE 1ST 90 DAYS OF THE 1 YEAR WARRANTY,GOOD THING I KEPT MY OLD WEB CLASSIC,IT IS MORE STABLE THAN THE NEW VERSION.WISH IT COULD DO AS MUCH AS THE NEW ,NO ISSUES OF CHANGING DIAL UP NUMBERS EVERY COUPLE MINTUES,OR SENSITIVITY.I'M WONDERING MYSELF WHAT THE REFURBISHED ONE WILL DO MAKES ME A LITTLE AGGRAVATED BOUGHT A NEW ONE,ACTUALLY HAD IT ON LINE LESS THAN 90 DAYS BUT WARRANTY STARTS WHEN YOU PURCHASE SO NOW I GET ONE THAT PROBABLY WON'T BE MINE WHICH WAS NEW...THIS TAUGHT ME A LESSON ABOUT PURCHASING A SO CALLED DUAL WARRANTY THAT RETAILERS SELL AFTER 90DAYS I WOULD OF GOT A NEW ONE.
