Problem Report: I have been using a NETGEAR router and Netgear Wg111 adapter for a year with no problem. I can view photos and videos on the MSNTV2 from files on my computer wired to the router. Since I recieved the 6341 upgrade on 22 Feb I have been getting a NAVIGATION ERROR. The error occurs when pressing the Home, Mail or Back key after clicking on a link that takes 2-4 minutes ( on 3.0 DSL) to read in. The link can be a mail message, a MSNBC news article on the home page or a web link. For awhile I was getting DNS time-outs, but now it seems to just stop reading. Sometimes a box with a red X will be included in the displayed page. As stated before the navigation error occurs when the Home key is hit. At that time the red connect light is still on, the Blue light on the adapter is solid and the router status has the MNSTV2 as active. Power off or ALT power off does not clear the problem and cannot get back into Home page-NAVIGATION error. Have to UNPLUG and then can get into home etc, untill the next LOADING problem, after about 5 links. This adapter is on the compatible list, but Customer service after trying all their tests and ROM boots say I need to replace my router with a compatible one???? The serial number starts with WG72, so it should be ok. How can I get this problem looked into? I would be happy to participate in any form of testing. Since you are offering the WG111 on your site as a compatible adapter, do you agree that a release problem has caused the incompatability? Thanks Richard |

Misc: hi, i love my webtv plus but its been struggling lately with many dead log in buttons, freezing up, slowing down... i am thinking about purchasing a msntv2 even though i will dearly mis pip. i have been putting the purchase off because of the many horrible customer reviews about defective units. amazon reviews are chock full of people that have returned their units multiple times due to hardware failure. i know unhappy people tend to review more often than happy campers so can you put an unbiased perspective on this issue? do these units perform better than the pluses while using dial up? i will invest in a service contract if i do upgrade. thanks!! |

Home Networking: This Thursday, I am having cable/broadband internet access set up on my MSN TV 2. I have had high speed internet set up on it before, no problems, it was wonderful. However, I also have a wireless capable laptop that I would like to share the high speed connection of the MSNtv with over a wireless connection. I also have a Linksys wireless router from a previous connection. Due to restrictions in my family, the primary connection can not be hooked up on the laptop, it has to be on the msn tv. This causes a problem. My question is, first off, is it possible to have a primary cable internet connection (its Adelphia if that helps) on the MSN TV and hook up the wireless router to the MSN TV or the cable modem to project a signal that I can connect to with my laptop? I would assume some configuring will be needed as well, and if need be I can connect my laptop directly to the cable modem using an ethernet cable for a short period to do so, but this can not be permanent. Secondly, I'd like to know if there is anyway I could have the router plugged in (hidden) somewhere else in the house, not connected to the cable modem streaming into the MSN TV and not connected to the laptop, but still projecting a signal from the MSN TV to my laptop? If this can be done, do I have to purchase a wifi USB adapter to connect to the MSN TV? Basically, I dont want it to be known that I have internet access on the laptop. How can I do this? Please reply, I would appreciate any advice or ideas greatly. |

Problem Report: Tommy, Please, I hope you can help my room mate. He was a webtv user and for the past 1 1/2 years has been using the msntv box hooked up to my router and comcast. Two days ago he turned the unit on and got "Unable to Get IP Address" . Nothing has changed on my system or his. We have been on customer support for 2 days now and have been unable to resolve the problem. Finally the CS person told us we would have to try a "hard reset" and that will mean he will lose his "stegmac@webtv.net" (the primary email account) and the addresses and emails associated with this account. He is disabled and his primary source of contact with the world is through email. He has email addresses of many people on his msntv account that are the only way he knows how to contact them. For him to lose his emails and addresses would be devistating. Can you please help us with this, no one we have talked to in the past 2 days seem to have a clue what to do. It does look like his box has a hardware problem and we have no problem buying a new unit. However we were told by support that if we did that that he would not be able to use the email address that he has been using for years and that in all probablity he would lose the emails. Thanks in advance. Shof |

Web Browsing: I've just had to cancel an on-line newspaper subscription because of a Java-related type of script MSNTV2 is now using. Pop-ups were occurring all over the place! Just hovering over something would pull up additional options. Those options obscured the underlying article one was trying to read. It's happening on more sites now, such as www.marketwatch.com The script should have been written such that a positive action was needed on the part of the user, such as a "click". This problem is probably most widely experienced by those using my.yahoo.com Just hovering over a news item automatically pulls up a synopsis of the story - whether we want it or not! |

Broadband: Signed up for broadband with TimeWarner using RoadRunner. Hooked up the self installation kit and powered up and my msntv2 page came up and a switched my account over to broadband. Now what about this RoadRunner account? The welcome kit says to go to activation.rr.com to activate my roadrunner account. I tried to and it froze up on the first page. So I went back to msntv2 and that is working fine. Should I call TimeWarner or call roadrunner or call the Tech number Time Warner gave me. If Power Off on the MSNTV2 box should I leave the modem on all the time or shut that off too? |

Broadband: MSN.TV2 does not seem to be compatible with any Wireless Adapter I've gotten---all with MSNTV2 advertising and specific direction from their techs, for which, apparently, they have no accountability. One of their techs referred me to your site, suggesting that your site would have suggestion for how to obtain, what they say is compatible but rarely found, a Netgear wg72 adapter. Are they misleading me yet again? Do you have any idea how I could obtain one? I've gone to circuit City, BBest Buy, twice to AE Advantage internet purchasing----all to complete frustrating failure. Do you have any ideas on this? I know you are busy. (I live in Los Angeles.) Thanks, Greg |

Problem Report: Hi, When I try to access the Delta Airlines Flight Schedule,PDF format, the opening pages read OK, but the actual Flight Schedule, the letters and numbers are "garbled" and unreadable. I have reported this to MSNTV2 tech support, and by e-mail several times, but it is still a problem. One CSA said the web site (Delta) was on their list to correct, but could not offer any more info. Could you shed some light on ths?? I thought MSNTV2 supported PDF format. Will this be resolved? As you may know, none of the airlines have printed schedules anymore. It is inconvenient to have go to the library to download the schedule (BTW, it is 116 pages!!)... Thanks Clay |

Printers: I have a MSNTV2 Internet & Media Player. I was using a webtv Plus before that with a Canon Color Bubble Jet Printer that had a parallel cable which fit into my old receiver. Now I am reading that I need a USB Printer with a USB Cable so it can be connected to one of the two USB Ports on the back of the the Internet & Media Player. Well I wanted to know if my old printer setup can be fixed with an adapter (if there is one) and then use USB Cable for my receiver and use the adapter to connect to the Canon Printer. It seems that printers that I can use are not available anymore. Circuit City tells me that Epson R340 is compatible but when I check on my printer list, it isn't listed. I know I am not a electrican or electronic's person but PLEASE TRY TO TELL ME WHAT TO DO. THANK YOU ISABEL |

Problem Report: Greetings Tommy. It's been a few weeks since I first noticed that neither my wife's, nor my mother's MSNTV 2 units have been able to play any stations via MSN Radio, the Media Player (WMP) works just fine on both units when streaming radio stations (non-MSN) via their respective website's streaming links, the problem is obviously not with WMP, but with MSN Radio. Is it possible that MSN may have moved its Radio streaming links to different servers since upgrading (Web 2.0) the entire MSN.com (MSN Live?) site? I have even done a hard reset (code 32768 procedure) on both units and the results are still the same, cannot play ANY MSN Radio stations, both units display a "...not able to access your favorite stations...please try again later" popup when entering the main (default) MSN Radio page, afterwards, selecting any station results in getting another popup: "...the station you've selected is not available at this time...BLAH, BLAH, BLAH," and/or, "...cannot access the page you've selected...BLAH, BLAH" I deleted their previously stored favorite MSN Radio stations via the "http://radio.msn.com" page, which BTW, had to be done using my Mac, since trying to do it via the MSNTV 2 units defaults you to the main MSNTV 2's Radio page, which on a side note, is desperately in need of being updated to a Web 2.0 design, at the very least, the end user should be allowed to use either the current default early to mid-nineties looking page, or if such end user desires, the new (Web 2.0) page that is accessed using a computer as their preferred default page. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated. |
